The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 33-year-old man over an alleged assault following a motor accident at Maamobi in Accra.

The arrest was carried out by the Kotobabi District Police Command after initial investigations into the incident, according to a statement issued on March 2, 2026, by the Regional Public Affairs Unit.

The statement, signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, said the incident occurred on February 22, 2026.

Police personnel on routine patrol in Maamobi met the victim, Yakubu Manan Abdul, 24.

Police said the victim reported that he had been involved in a motor accident with the suspect, identified as Razak Kwanda.

Initial investigations indicate that during the incident, the suspect allegedly attacked and assaulted him, causing injuries.

The patrol team conveyed the victim and his damaged motorbike to the Kotobabi Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged and investigations began.

Police said the suspect was arrested on February 26, 2026, at about 9:45 a.m. He has since been granted police enquiry bail and is assisting with investigations.

The Accra Regional Police Command cautioned the public against resorting to violence during road traffic accidents or disputes. It urged motorists to remain calm and allow the police to handle such matters in line with the law.
