Man in Court for Sharing Ex-girlfriend’s Bedroom Video with Her Husband
A 44-year-old man, Gbenga Oluwatomisin, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, accused of sending an explicit video of his ex-lover to her husband.
The alleged incident, which took place on 7 January, has raised concerns over privacy violations and personal vendettas.
According to the prosecuting counsel, Inspector Sikiru Opaleye, Oluwatomisin conspired with unidentified individuals who are still at large to send the explicit video and recorded voice messages to Kehinde Olayiwola, the husband of his former partner.
The prosecution argued that the accused’s actions were likely to disrupt public peace, especially considering the sensitive nature of the content.
The backstory reveals that Kehinde and Toyese Olayiwola, the couple involved, had previously separated due to a misunderstanding. During the period of separation, Toyese became acquainted with Oluwatomisin.
However, after reconciling with her husband, Toyese ended her relationship with the defendant.
Allegedly unwilling to accept this, Oluwatomisin retaliated by distributing the private materials, hoping to disrupt the couple’s renewed relationship.
The court heard that the explicit content was sent via the phone number 08#29427990.
Oluwatomisin has since pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him. Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi subsequently granted him bail in the sum of N100,000. The bail conditions include securing one surety, who must be a blood relative of the defendant and provide the same amount.
The case highlights growing concerns over digital privacy breaches and personal revenge tactics, with many calling for stricter measures to address such violations. As investigations continue, authorities are working to identify the alleged accomplices who remain at large.
