Ugochukwu Onuoha was sentenced to life in prison by the Lagos State Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court for having a sexual relationship with his neighbor’s five-year-old daughter.
In his ruling, presiding Judge Rahman Oshodi stated that the prosecution had successfully established Onuoha’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Oshodi underscored the gravity of the offense, pointing out the considerable physical and psychological damage done to the juvenile victim.
The assault may have caused long-term damage, according to medical findings presented in court. It could have caused vagina bleeding which could lead to death considering the age.
As a result of Onuoha’s lack of regret for his acts, even in light of the victim’s young age, the judge ordered that his name be added to the Lagos State Sexual Offenses Register. He never showed the family or the victom that he was sorry for the act. It was as if it never happened.
The crime, which took place on June 20, 2021, on Achakpo St., Olodi Apapa, Lagos, in violation of Section 137 of the Lagos, 2015 Criminal Laws, was described in detail by prosecutor Adedipupo Adewetan.
This decision serves as a warning to anyone who might commit sexual assault in the future and emphasizes the judiciary’s dedication to providing justice in these circumstances.
