A shocking case of jealousy and murder has emerged from Bhopal’s Gayatri Nagar, where a 32-year-old man has been arrested for strangling his girlfriend and living with her lifeless body for two days before alerting the authorities.
The man, identified as Sachin Rajput, reportedly killed 29-year-old Ritika Sen after a heated altercation fueled by suspicions of infidelity. Ritika, who worked at a private company, had been in a live-in relationship with Sachin for over three years. Despite their time together, Sachin remained unemployed and reportedly grew increasingly insecure about her professional interactions—particularly with her boss.
According to investigators, the fatal confrontation occurred on June 27, 2025. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Sachin strangled Ritika during an argument at their shared rented apartment. Instead of seeking help or alerting anyone, he wrapped her body in a blanket and left it on their bed—continuing to live in the same room as though nothing had happened.
In the days following the crime, Sachin is said to have been in a drunken and disturbed state, sleeping beside the decomposing body while consumed by fear and confusion. It wasn’t until Sunday that he opened up to a friend named Anuj during a visit to Misrod. Initially, Anuj dismissed his words as the ramblings of someone intoxicated. But the following day, when Sachin repeated the disturbing details sober, Anuj took it seriously and contacted police around 5 p.m. on Monday.
When officers from Bajaria Police Station arrived at the residence, they discovered Ritika’s body still wrapped in the blanket on the bed, just as described by Sachin. Authorities confirmed that the two had been living together for approximately nine months in the rented flat, although Sachin was already married with children prior to the relationship.
Investigators say the motive was driven by Sachin’s deep-seated jealousy and suspicions of Ritika having an affair with her boss at work. A murder case has since been filed, and Sachin is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The grim case has left residents in shock and raised new concerns about domestic violence and mental health issues rooted in joblessness and relationship distrust.
