Tensions between two neighbours in Indonesia reached a horrifying climax after a long-standing feud erupted into violence, leaving one man dead.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when 45-year-old Siregar, in a fit of anger, fatally assaulted his 60-year-old neighbour, Asgim Irianto, a retired government worker. What began as a seemingly minor quarrel over their hens quickly escalated when past grudges resurfaced.
Reports reveal that the two men had endured a rocky relationship for some time, with particular friction stemming from Irianto’s constant remarks about Siregar’s unmarried status — comments that were said to deeply irritate the younger man.
During the confrontation, Siregar lashed out with a piece of wood, striking Irianto at his residence. The elderly man attempted to escape but was chased out into the street, where horrified onlookers stepped in and rushed him to the hospital.
Despite efforts to save him, Irianto was declared dead before reaching medical help.
Authorities have since taken Siregar into custody as investigations continue into the tragic end of what was once a neighbourhood dispute.
