Man Stabbed in Head With Scissors Over Phone and Cash
  • Two unemployed men have been sentenced by the Tarkwa District Court Two for stabbing a 24-year-old man and robbing him of his mobile phone and GH¢1,900 in cash.

A violent robbery in Aboso has ended with jail time for two young men who attacked a customer at a local guest house and made off with his cash and mobile phone.

The incident took place on April 24, 2025, when the victim, Kwame Batie, visited “Kofi’s Guest House” to buy food. While waiting, he was confronted by Gilbert Mensah, 24, and Justice Mensah, 18, who accused him of filming Justice in a drunken state the previous day.

The confrontation escalated when Gilbert reached into Batie’s pocket and snatched GH¢1,900. Moments later, he pulled out a pair of scissors and demanded the victim’s Techno Pop 30 mobile phone, valued at GH¢1,800. When Batie refused, Gilbert stabbed him in the back of the head and fled with the phone.

A passerby helped the bleeding victim to the police station, where he filed a report and received medical attention. Police later tracked the suspects to their hideout, but the stolen items were never recovered.

Both men pleaded guilty to stealing and causing harm. The Tarkwa District Court Two, presided over by Mr Isaac Osei Asare, sentenced Gilbert to two years in prison and Justice to 12 months.
