Prince Kwabena Budu Asumaning, one half of Ghanaian music duo Akatakyie, has issued a heartfelt warning to fellow musicians, emphasizing the need for spiritual protection in the entertainment industry.
Speaking to GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the funeral of highlife legend Dada KD, Asumaning highlighted the precarious nature of relationships between artistes and fans. While musicians thrive on the love of their audience, getting too close to people can sometimes lead to betrayal.
He explained that those who seem supportive can quickly turn against you, creating negative stories the moment you let your guard down.
Asumaning urged his colleagues to become more prayerful, stressing that although juju and traditional spiritual leaders (Mallams) may hold power, God’s power surpasses all. He assured that following God ensures victory even when challenges arise.
The musician also called for reciprocity between artistes and the public, encouraging fans to reflect the same loyalty and care that artists show them.
