The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has lent its support towards calls to rename the Kotoka International Airport after the country’s first President.

It postulates that the national airport ought to reflect the highest ideals, values, and historical foundations of the Republic as Ghana’s principal international gateway.

“Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s unparalleled contribution to Ghana’s independence, statehood, and Pan-African unity makes him the most fitting symbol to welcome the world to our beloved country,” it argued.

Renaming the facility, it stated, is a moral reckoning as national honours must reflect truth, justice and Ghana’s collective identity.

“Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah founded Ghana and laid the foundations necessary for its statehood; yet Ghana’s only international airport continues to honour a figure associated with his overthrow. This contradiction sends a dangerous signal and normalises betrayal, subversion and moral bankruptcy. This must no longer be allowed to stand.”
