The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to hold the final mediation sessions in the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy dispute on November 30 and December 1, 2025, the Manhyia Palace has announced.
A statement from the palace, signed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu on November 10, confirmed the dates and highlighted the Asantehene’s appreciation for both parties’ cooperation during the mediation process.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been spearheading efforts to restore peace in Bawku, a town in the Upper East Region that has suffered from prolonged chieftaincy tensions. The palace called on all parties to continue avoiding actions that could disrupt progress toward a lasting resolution.
The upcoming sessions are expected to be the conclusive steps in resolving the dispute, aiming to bring long-awaited stability and unity to the Bawku community.
