The Mankrado of Kasoa Kwao-Mensah Krom, Nana Otuboah Kwesi Gariba, has urged young people to turn their attention to agriculture as a means of improving their livelihoods, noting that an overreliance on white-collar jobs can be limiting.

According to him, agriculture remains central to Ghana’s economic survival and offers vast opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship if properly supported.

He encouraged the youth to acquire the necessary skills to transform farming into a viable and sustainable business.

Speaking at a recent gathering, Nana Otuboah Kwesi Gariba said the pursuit of a limited number of office jobs often leads to frustration and disappointment. He stressed that agriculture goes beyond subsistence farming and has the potential to generate employment, stimulate economic growth, and enhance food security.

He expressed concern that many young people are abandoning farming for urban centers, only to end up unemployed or underemployed. He noted that previous generations depended on agriculture for survival and were sustained through farming.

He called on young people to take responsibility for their future by investing in agriculture.

In addition, Nana Otuboah Kwesi Gariba raised concerns about the ongoing water crisis in Millennium City, describing the situation as dire for residents.

He said many households have been without a reliable water supply for over a year, making access to necessities increasingly difficult.
