Renowned Ghanaian media personality, entrepreneur, and fashion enthusiast Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has been named the new Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency.
He takes over from Akwasi Awua Ababio, who previously held the position.
The Diaspora Affairs Office, established in 2017, plays a crucial role in maintaining strong ties between Ghana and its citizens living abroad.
It serves as a bridge, encouraging Ghanaians in the diaspora to actively participate in national development by investing in the economy, promoting cultural exchange, and contributing to various sectors of the country.
The office also raises awareness about the risks of irregular migration while working with governmental institutions, Ghanaian communities abroad, and international organizations to foster meaningful partnerships.
KOD’s appointment comes as a strategic move, given his extensive experience in media, fashion, and cultural advocacy.
With a strong presence in the entertainment industry and a deep appreciation for African heritage, he is well positioned to engage the diaspora in a way that resonates with Ghana’s rich cultural identity.
His ability to connect with diverse audiences is expected to play a key role in strengthening Ghana’s global influence and encouraging more diaspora involvement in national affairs.
As he steps into this role, expectations are high for KOD to bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to enhance Ghana’s relationship with its diaspora.
His leadership is anticipated to further amplify the impact of the office and create new opportunities for collaboration between the country and its global citizens.
