The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has emphasised that appointments within the party are based on merit rather than ethnic considerations.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” of the Ashanti Region, he reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusiveness, stressing that all Ghanaians are given equal consideration for opportunities in government.
According to him, positions are awarded based on competence and the ability to contribute meaningfully to national development, not on tribal affiliation.
“We are not selective. Whoever deserves the position will be rewarded regardless of where they come from,” he stated.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia also dismissed allegations that the party marginalises certain ethnic groups, particularly Asantes, describing such claims as unfounded.
He maintained that merit, hard work, and capability remain the key criteria guiding appointments within the party.
