Miracle Films CEO Urges Government to Invest in Kumawood
Samuel Akwasi Nyamekye, CEO of Miracle Films, has stated that Ghana can gain significant global recognition through its film industry.
He made this assertion during a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, where he proposed strategies to revitalise the Kumawood movie industry.
One of his key suggestions, which has since attracted widespread attention, was a call for the government to invest heavily in the industry.
Nyamekye proposed that an annual allocation of $10 million to $40 million would enable industry players to produce films that project Ghana positively on the global stage.
He argued that such funding would not only bolster the industry but also allow the government to influence the type of content produced, ensuring that Ghana’s culture and values are accurately represented.
Nyamekye noted that despite the challenges faced by filmmakers in countries like Nigeria and the United States, they consistently promote positive narratives through their movies.
His remarks have sparked discussions about the role of government support in the creative arts sector and how strategic investments in film could enhance Ghana’s international image.
