The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the constitution of a technical working group to conduct a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region.

In a Facebook post on January 13, 2026, he required the audit to be led by the Ministry’s Technical Advisor, Dr Korku Awoonor, who will assess the structural integrity, operational capacity, and overall productivity of health facilities, with the aim of improving service delivery and ensuring patient safety.

The directive was issued during the Ministry of Health’s two-day management retreat and forms part of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen oversight of public health infrastructure nationwide.

Health minister directs agencies to align plans with government priorities

As part of complementary measures to enhance quality of care, Mintah Akandoh has also ordered the introduction of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals.

The move is intended to improve hygiene standards, strengthen infection prevention and control, and create safer, more patient-friendly healthcare environments.

The ministry has stated that the initiatives reflect its commitment to raising standards in the health sector through proactive supervision, improved facility management, and sustained investment in quality healthcare delivery.
