Two people have been confirmed dead, while three others are in critical condition following a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor at Fufulso Junction in the Savannah region.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when armed robbers reportedly attacked the operator while he was attending to a customer.
According to reports, the assailants opened fire during the attack, shooting the vendor and the customer who had gone there to conduct a transaction. The two victims were rushed to the hospital but died on the way.
Three other individuals who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident are currently receiving treatment at the Buipe District Hospital, where medical personnel say they remain in critical condition.
The attack has heightened tensions in the community. Later in the night, some youth in the area reportedly set fire to a number of homes of residents in Fufulso.
Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence. Authorities say officers are maintaining a presence at Fufulso Junction to ensure that lives and property are protected.
Residents have been urged to remain calm as investigations into the robbery and the subsequent disturbances continue.
