“More Will Happen If NDC Doesn’t Change” – Controversial Gospel Musician on Obuasi Crash

A statement by Ghanaian Gospel musician Evangelist Akwasi Nyarko has sparked shock and controversy online after he commented on the recent Obuasi helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several high-ranking NDC officials. While the nation remains in mourning over the tragic incident, Nyarko’s remarks suggest that he views the crash as only a minor warning.

In a self-recorded video that quickly went viral on social media, the musician described the crash as “too small,” implying that the incident was a message rather than a catastrophic endpoint. He argued that the NDC, despite enjoying political power, has been ungrateful to foot soldiers and supporters who helped the party rise to prominence.

Nyarko asserted that the NDC bigwigs were humble and connected to the people before taking office, but after assuming power, they allegedly abandoned these principles. He suggested that the helicopter crash was a corrective signal to remind the president and the party of their perceived shortcomings in treating citizens and loyalists fairly.

The controversial musician went further to claim that the tragedy may be a precursor to even graver events if the party fails to address the behavior of its leadership. His comments have ignited debates online, with some condemning his remarks as insensitive and opportunistic, while others see it as a reflection of accountability expectations from public figures.

The Obuasi helicopter crash, which occurred on August 6, 2025, has already led to widespread mourning and public calls for stricter aviation safety and political introspection. Nyarko’s video has now added a layer of controversy, raising questions about ethics, morality, and the public discourse surrounding national tragedies in Ghana.
