Mother allegedly assaults 12-year-old daughter over plantain sale in Abrabra

A 12-year-old girl, identified as Vida Kwarteng, has reportedly been assaulted by her mother, Diana Kwarteng, following a disagreement over the sale of plantain harvested from their farm.

The incident happened at Abrabra in the Sefwi-Wiawso municipality on March 8.

Information gathered by Adom News indicates that the girl sold part of the harvested plantain for ₵10 while her mother was away from home in an attempt to buy food for herself and her sibling.

However, when the mother, Diana Kwarteng, returned and discovered the sale, she reportedly became angry and beat the girl with a cane.

Vida is said to have sustained severe bruises from her neck down to her waist as a result of the assault.

As of the time of filing this report, the suspect, Diana Kwarteng, had not yet been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
