Bawku has once again been plunged into chaos as violence broke out between the youth and security forces, resulting in casualties and destruction of property.
Among the most shocking developments is the attack and partial burning of the home of Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga.
The incident occurred while the MP was reportedly outside the country for official duties. As tensions flared in the town, reports emerged that his residence had been set on fire, drawing widespread concern from political circles and the public.
The recent unrest is believed to be connected to long-standing tensions over the unresolved Bawku chieftaincy matter.
While many residents are demanding swift action, frustrations boiled over, leading to confrontations with the police. Eyewitnesses say several individuals sustained injuries, and at least one person is feared dead.
Although there are accusations that some officers may have acted unprofessionally, local leaders are appealing for calm.
The MP has expressed support for traditional mediation efforts being led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and has urged residents to allow due process to take its course.
Mahama Ayariga has also maintained his firm stance on the chieftaincy matter and warned against the spread of false narratives and political mischief on social media.
Authorities are currently working to restore order and prevent further escalation in the area.
