A Nigerian woman, Adaeze Gift Okolie, has stirred conversation on social media with her bold take on marriage and the qualities that make a man a great husband.
Taking to Facebook, Adaeze credited much of her marital happiness to the fact that her spouse happens to be what many would call a “mummy’s boy.”
Contrary to popular belief that men with strong emotional ties to their mothers might be overly dependent or lack autonomy, Adaeze believes the opposite.
From her experience, she claims that a man’s close bond with his mother often reflects in how he cherishes and respects his wife.
She highlighted moments from her marriage to illustrate this point, sharing how her husband has consistently shown compassion, patience, and emotional support—even during periods when she felt insecure about her body after childbirth.
According to her, his ability to understand and uplift her stems from the deep respect and care he has always shown his mother.
Despite being seen as the stubborn one in his family, Adaeze observed that his love for his mother hasn’t made him controlling or insensitive—instead, it has helped him build a respectful and affectionate relationship at home.
Drawing from her own life, she boldly concluded that the majority of men who are raised to love their mothers deeply tend to mirror that same love in their marriages. In her view, about 80% of such men turn out to be great life partners.
Would you agree that a man’s bond with his mother reflects how he treats his wife?
