The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has issued an official apology to Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante, whose photograph was mistakenly published following a routine behavioural detection exercise at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

In a restricted-dated letter dated 14th April 2026, the Commission clarified that Mr Asante is not connected to any ongoing investigation by NACOC.

“Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante is not connected to or involved in any ongoing investigation by NACOC,” the statement signed by the Ag. Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Mr Francis Opoku Amoah, read.

The Commission added: “NACOC wishes to unreservedly apologise to Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante for any embarrassment or misunderstanding the publication may have caused.”

On 19th February 2026, NACOC conducted a routine behavioural detection exercise at the Accra International Airport. Trained sniffer dogs, advanced scanning equipment, and profiling techniques were deployed to monitor passenger movements while ensuring minimal disruption to airport activities.

For documentation purposes, pictures were taken at various stages of the exercise. Some of those images were subsequently published on the Commission’s official social media handles.

It was in those published photos that Mr Asante was inadvertently captured and identified.
