A young mother in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate was brutally killed in her home after a domestic dispute spiraled into violence. The victim, 27-year-old Susan Nabwire, had just returned from her job as a mobile money agent when her husband, Cyprian Mukoye, demanded access to her work phone.

The argument reportedly lasted through the night. Around 3 a.m., while Susan was preparing to leave for work, Mukoye entered the bathroom with an axe and attacked her. Their one-year-old child and househelp witnessed the assault.

Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing screams, but Susan had already sustained fatal injuries. Mukoye fled before authorities arrived.

Family members say the relationship had been tense, with Mukoye frequently accusing Susan of infidelity. She had denied the claims, but the pressure had reportedly intensified in recent weeks.

Susan’s body was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary. Police have launched a manhunt for Mukoye, while the househelp is assisting with investigations.

The tragedy has sparked outrage across Nairobi, with calls for stronger protections against domestic violence and better support systems for women in abusive relationships.
