A social media storm has erupted after media icon Nana Aba Anamoah criticized Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, Haruna Mohammed, for what she described as misplaced priorities. The controversy began when the MP made a post on X (formerly Twitter) offering a GH¢100,000 giveaway if influencer KalyJay could help him reach 100,000 followers.
The MP’s post quickly spread across social media, sparking outrage from users who questioned why an elected representative would focus on boosting his online presence rather than addressing issues affecting his constituents.
Nana Aba, known for her bold opinions, did not hold back. She expressed deep disappointment over the MP’s behaviour, describing it as a poor display of leadership and a misuse of influence. According to her, someone entrusted with representing citizens should be working toward development projects, not chasing online fame.
The incident has since drawn widespread backlash, forcing Haruna Mohammed to delete the post. Despite the deletion, screenshots of the message continue to circulate online, with many echoing Nana Aba’s criticism of politicians who seem more concerned with social media engagement than real governance.

This is a member of parliament elected by citizens who expect him to lobby for developmental projects in their constituency.
Instead, he’s lobbying to develop his follower count on X.
Shame! Shame! Shame on you @HarunaMohammed_ pic.twitter.com/jmGtxZ7TaH
