The family of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, has confirmed that her final funeral rites will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Accra’s Independence Square.
During a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, Abusuapanin Oheneba Akwasi Abeyie shared that the funeral procession is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m., marking the arrival of the cortege at the national landmark. The family emphasized that the event will be open to the public, allowing Ghanaians to pay their respects.
Attendees are expected to observe a simple dress code, with black attire prescribed for the occasion. The family clarified that there will be no alternative service held elsewhere following the main ceremony at Independence Square.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on October 23, 2025, at Ridge Hospital in Accra at the age of 76. Her contributions as First Lady have left a lasting impact on the nation, and the upcoming ceremony aims to honor her legacy in a dignified and accessible manner.
