Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman
The passing of Naser Toure Mahama, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, has drawn heartfelt tributes from colleagues and political leaders.
Among them is Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Greater Accra.
Speaking to GhanaWeb during the Janazah Prayers held for him at the National Mosque on Monday, January 5, 2026, he described the late MP as one of the best-performing Members of Parliament in the Greater Accra Region.
Ashie Moore further recalled serving alongside Naser in the Fourth Parliament, together with Patrick Boamah, Comfort Doyoe, and Patricia Appiagyei, all of whom were backbenchers at the time.

“He was quiet, humble, very intelligent, sharp, transparent, giving, and hardworking. I remember him very well because, myself, Naser, Patrick Boamah, Honourable Doyoe, Patricia Appiagyei; we were all members of the Fourth Parliament, and we were all backbenchers. He was sitting right on my left, and Appiagyei was on my right.
“He was one of the best-performing Members of Parliament in my region,” Ashie Moore said, adding that Naser managed a very difficult constituency for four terms with distinction.
Reflecting on the loss, he noted that the NDC had lost a great soul.
While acknowledging that God knows best, he emphasised that the late Ayawaso East MP had served his constituency with distinction, further adding that Parliament itself had lost a remarkable figure.
He stated: “It is sad, but Allah knows best. Allah gives, and Allah takes. We have no control over His decision. We have lost a great pillar. As I sit here, I try to imagine and strategise who could replace Naser, but he did a very good job for his constituents. He managed a very difficult constituency for four terms.

“You have to know that he was an experienced politician, a businessman, a philanthropist; you name it all. Parliament itself has lost a great man. May Allah grant him a befitting place and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
