The Naval Wives Association (NAWA) has held a Children’s Christmas Party at the Naval Base in Tema, bringing together families of naval officers and ratings for a day of joy, bonding and celebration.
The event, held last Saturday, was on the theme “Bonded by Family, United in Fun,” and attracted senior military spouses, invited guests, parents and children from across the Ghana Navy community.
The NAWA Children’s Christmas Party forms part of the association’s annual welfare and family-support programmes aimed at promoting unity, morale and social cohesion among families of Ghana Navy personnel.
Delivering the keynote address, the Wife of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Esther Kwakye Agyapong, paid glowing tribute to families of service personnel, particularly wives, for their quiet sacrifices and unwavering support.
Mrs Agyapong noted that behind every committed officer and rating stood a family that provided emotional stability and encouragement.
“Your unwavering support gives our men and women in uniform the peace of mind to serve Ghana with focus and pride.
In many ways, you too are serving every single day,” she said.
She also commended the President of NAWA, Gifty Agnes Bessing, wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff, and the association’s executive members for their leadership and welfare initiatives, which she said continued to strengthen the Ghana Navy family.
Mrs Bessing in a remark also said the event was deliberately organised to celebrate joy, togetherness and the special bond shared by naval families beyond the call of duty.
“Today is not about speeches or ceremony.
It is about laughter, fun and creating unforgettable memories for our children,” she said, encouraging the children to freely participate in all activities planned for them.
She also commended parents and children for their enthusiastic participation, urging families to continue fostering unity and friendship within the naval community.
The Christmas party featured games, music, dancing, food and gift presentations, creating a festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the Christmas season.
