NDC completes balloting for five Ayawaso East parliamentary aspirants

Five aspirants contesting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary slot for Ayawaso East have drawn ballot positions following the successful completion of the party’s vetting exercise.

The balloting, conducted immediately after the vetting on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, determined the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot paper for the upcoming primaries.

Chairman, Mohammed Ramme, picked the number one position. 

Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament, Nasser Toure Mahama, secured number two. 

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, drew number three.

Dr. Yakubu Azindow picked number four.

 Najib Mohammed Sani completed the list with number five.

The process followed one-on-one vetting sessions between the aspirants and the vetting committee, conducted without the presence of supporters, in line with party directives.

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh-Chaie, described the exercise as orderly and transparent, noting that all aspirants complied fully with laid-down procedures. He added that the names and contact details of all delegates have been officially given to the aspirants by the party, indicating that campaigning can commence without any restrictions.

Party officials say the smooth conduct of the exercise reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy ahead of the primaries.
