Leading figures of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), including First Lady Lordina Mahama, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, were among top party stalwarts who attended the one-week observance of the late Andrews Kwame Amankwah, father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi.
The solemn ceremony, held in honour of Mr. Amankwah, drew a large crowd of party executives, government appointees, sympathisers, and members of the public who gathered to mourn with the bereaved family following his tragic death.
Mr. Amankwah was reportedly killed in a robbery attack, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the family and sections of the political community. The circumstances surrounding the attack have heightened public concern over security and renewed calls for justice.
The First Lady led a delegation of government officials to the event, offering condolences and support to the grieving family. National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, also arrived with other members of the party’s national executive to express solidarity.
Speakers at the ceremony paid tribute to the late Mr. Amankwah, describing him as a devoted family man whose untimely passing has left a significant void. The gathering underscored the strong show of unity within the party, as leaders and supporters alike stood with Sammy Gyamfi and his family during their time of loss.
