The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Agbesi Benjamin from his position as Oda Constituency Communication Officer following allegations of misconduct.
The suspension comes after an audio recording emerged in which Mr Benjamin is alleged to have discouraged a newly converted member from joining the party. The comments reportedly run counter to the NDC’s ongoing outreach and expansion efforts, even as the party’s Regional Executive Committee (REC) maintains that the NDC has become “the most attractive political party in Africa in recent times.”
At a virtual meeting held on January 21, 2026, the REC resolved to suspend Mr Benjamin with immediate effect and referred the matter to the Eastern Regional Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and determination.
As part of the decision, Mr Benjamin has been directed to surrender all party property in his possession to the Constituency Secretary.
According to the committee, he will be invited to appear before the disciplinary body for a hearing to enable it to compile its findings and recommendations for submission to the REC.
The suspension letter was signed by the Eastern Regional Secretary, Jamal Konneh, and copied to the party’s General Secretary, members of the REC, the Constituency Chairman, and the Chairman of the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
