The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben North in the Eastern Region, Nana Osei-Adjei, has donated medical equipment and other essential products to the maternity block of the Akwadum Health Centre to improve healthcare services in the area.
The items, which cost GH¢90,000, included a hydraulic theatre bed, three Intensive Care Unit (ICU) crank beds, a delivery set, baby cots, detergents and baby diapers to enhance quality healthcare delivery, in fulfilment of his commitment to good healthcare for the people.
Request made
The donation was in response to a request from the management of the Akwadum Health Centre to the MP for equipment and other essential products.
Presenting the items at the facility’s premises at Akwadum last Wednesday (April 8), Nana Osei-Adjei said he was deeply concerned about the health of his people in the constituency.
He stated that the donation was to equip the facility’s maternity block with modern equipment, enabling doctors and nurses to address maternal mortality in the area.
Nana Osei-Adjei emphasised that it was essential for his constituents to have quality healthcare.
He stated that Asikasu and other adjoining communities were beneficiaries of interventions aimed at improving healthcare and access to education.
Nana Osei-Adjei explained that when he assumed office, some health facilities in his constituency lacked equipment, while others were in a deteriorated state, but his outfit would help address such challenges.
He expressed confidence that most of the health-related issues and education affecting the people in the constituency would be effectively addressed.
Nana Osei-Adjei urged the management of the facility to put the equipment to good use to serve the purpose for which it was donated.
Working tools
The facility’s Physician Assistant, Salima Salam, who received the items on behalf of the facility’s management, said the equipment had arrived at the right time, as the facility was in dire need of it.
She expressed hope that the equipment would go a long way toward improving healthcare at the facility.
Mrs Salam stated that the facility needed more tools and medical equipment to enable nurses and doctors to deliver quality healthcare to the people.
The Queenmother of Akwadum, who is also the Mponuahemaa of New Juaben, Nana Anima Adowaa, thanked the MP for providing the medical equipment and other essential products to the health centre.
