Pooley’s relatives claim that attempts to communicate with club officials have been repeatedly blocked. They also report being unable to secure a meeting with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the club’s owner, despite persistent efforts. Pooley’s sister emphasized that the family has held back from publicly criticizing the club out of respect for Manhyia.

The beloved supporter was fatally stabbed during a Premier League match between Kotoko and Nsoatreman in Nsoatre on February 2, 2025. The incident, sparked by a dispute in the stands, escalated into violent chaos, with fans invading the pitch and clashing with players and officials.

Following the tragedy, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II took steps to care for Pooley’s children and created an educational fund in his honor. While these actions were initially praised as gestures of compassion, the family’s recent claims suggest unresolved friction, casting a shadow over Pooley’s enduring legacy as a devoted Kotoko fan.
