Tensions within the family of the late Highlife great Daddy Lumba have intensified once again as his elder sister, Akosua Brempomaah — known privately as Ernestina Fosuh — has taken the extraordinary step of reporting their uncle, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, to the Kumasi Central Police Station.

The report, first highlighted by Grace TV on the TikTok page “Koforidua Flowers,” points to concerns about a suspicious withdrawal from the funeral account set up for the musician. The issue reportedly came to light when a cheque bearing a signature from the account was discovered, raising alarms about how the money was being used.

Ernestina, joined by Evangelist Papa Shee and several other relatives, lodged the complaint on November 19, 2025. She is said to believe the funds may have been earmarked for a billboard promoting the yet-to-be-finalised funeral date — a move she considers inappropriate, especially with the court battle over the musician’s marital status and estate still unresolved.

The funeral account in question was established ahead of the one-week observance and placed under the control of a committee led by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu. That committee has since been dissolved, but the handling of the remaining funds continues to raise questions.

This latest incident is not the only financial controversy linked to the account. Earlier, the family head admitted to taking GH¢30,000 from the same account to cover hotel expenses he accumulated during a stay in Accra, a decision that had already caused significant friction among relatives.

Ernestina’s police complaint sheds new light on the growing divide within the family as they navigate the administrative, legal and emotional aftermath of Lumba’s passing. Investigators are now expected to examine how the recent withdrawal was authorised, what it was intended for, and whether any procedural breaches occurred.
