Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has opened up about his love life, revealing why he remains single more than a decade after his failed marriage.
In a recent interview on Nollywood Hardcore, The Legend’s Untold Story, the actor shared that his marriage to his ex-wife from Asaba ended due to incompatibility, leaving him emotionally scarred and hesitant to remarry.
“I have been divorced for more than 10 years. I’m not married to anybody yet,” Anuku revealed. “I never expected that I was going to be separated from my ex-wife. It hurt me, but I had to move on.”
Despite his long-term bachelor status, the actor admitted he still desires love and marriage but refuses to settle for anything less than a deep, meaningful connection.
“I like to be married and be happy in the marriage. I have dated for a couple of years, but I knew she wasn’t going to be my wife. I want to be in love with somebody, not just be infatuated. Agape love—the greatest of love—is what I want in any woman I’m going to get married to,” he explained.
Anuku also revealed that his experiences have made him wary of Nigerian women, stating that his ex-wife’s constant financial demands and jealousy contributed to their separation.
“I don’t want to get married to any Nigerian woman because I went through a lot of psychological trauma. My ex-wife wanted me to stop acting because she was jealous of other women around me. I told her I couldn’t stop acting,” he said.
The actor further disclosed that while he has two children with another woman, he does not see her as the right partner for marriage, emphasizing that they are simply co-parenting.
“I have two kids, but their mother is not my wife. We are just friends, and I’m doing what I can for my children,” he added.
Anuku admitted that he felt more compatible with Caucasian women during his time abroad and even hinted at the possibility of finding love if he ever traveled again.
“I never dated any Black woman when I was overseas. Blonde women are my specs. If I had to go back, maybe I’d meet someone on vacation,” he said.
His candid revelations have sparked discussions online, with many debating his views on love, marriage, and cultural compatibility. While some admire his honesty, others believe love knows no boundaries and that he may still find the right partner in Nigeria.
For now, the Nollywood legend remains single, waiting for the kind of love he truly desires.
