A Nigerian woman residing in the UK, identified as Rose, has come forward with allegations of being defrauded of over £30,000 in a romance scam orchestrated by an individual named Akin, reportedly associated with the University of Sussex.
He convinced her to bring him to the UK, promising to repay her generosity.
Akin allegedly coerced Rose into funding his Master’s degree fees, accommodation, and providing a weekly allowance under the guise of a romantic relationship.
However, Rose now claims to have discovered Akin’s deceitful intentions, revealing that he concealed his marital status and family obligations, even including his wife and children as dependents on his visa application, which Rose unwittingly financed.
The situation escalated when Akin abruptly ceased communication with Rose immediately following the completion of his exams, blocking her on all platforms while allegedly reconnecting with his family in an undisclosed location within the UK.
Expressing her distress and seeking justice, Rose implores for assistance in locating Akin and holding him accountable for his alleged fraudulent actions. She asserts that Akin’s actions were premeditated, exploiting her trust and financial support for his personal gain while betraying her confidence and commitment.
