Nigerian Man Loses Millions to Crypto Scam—Then Gets Shocking Turnaround!

A Nigerian crypto trader has raised alarm after falling victim to a ₦9.6 million scam during a peer-to-peer (P2P) transaction on the Bybit exchange platform. The incident, which initially left him devastated, later took an unexpected turn following intense public attention.

The victim, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @Heis_morgann, revealed he had been defrauded of $6,000 (approximately ₦9.6 million) by a vendor operating under the username “Mickey-(Zion).” According to him, the vendor received the money but refused to release the corresponding crypto assets.

Frustrated and seeking help, the trader took to social media to warn others. He called on Bybit and its affiliates, including @BybitAfrica and @Bybit_Web3, to address the matter, insisting his hard-earned money couldn’t simply vanish without explanation.

Screenshots posted alongside his tweets showed the transaction details and a suspicious chat exchange between him and the vendor, which he claimed clearly indicated foul play from the outset.

“This feels like a deliberate scam. I can’t just let ₦9.6 million disappear. @Bybit_Official, please do something,” he pleaded publicly.

The incident sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many users demanding accountability from Bybit and warning others to be cautious when dealing with P2P vendors.

In a surprising and welcome update hours later, the victim confirmed that the scammer had returned the funds. “Guyssss! The man has returned the funds. Thank you all for your support — it’s truly appreciated,” he wrote, expressing gratitude to those who rallied behind him.

The episode has reignited conversations around the risks involved in unregulated crypto transactions and the need for tighter oversight of peer-to-peer platforms.
