Nine remanded in custody over assault on police officers at Tweapease SHS Park

The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded nine suspects into prison custody in connection with the assault of police officers at Tweapease Senior High School Park in the Ashanti Region.

The decision follows a viral video that showed a group of young men attacking officers who were on duty at the location.

Those remanded are Joshua Frimpong, also known as Joey B; Bannor Williams; Isaac Dwumfour, known as Sporty; Evans Bannor, also called Pressure King; Asiedu Ronald, known as Case Close; Sarfo Alex, also called Okele; Yaw Alex; Obidiaba Desmond; and Agyemang Emmanuel.

They appeared before the Obuasi Circuit Court on 8 January 2026 and were charged with assaulting public officers.

According to a post by the Ghana Police Service on Facebook, the suspects acted together with other individuals who are currently being sought by the authorities.

Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest all those involved in the attack.

In a warning to the public, the police said anyone who assaults law-enforcement officers will be pursued and made to face the full rigours of the law.
