The Nkoranzamanhene, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, has pledged to personally fund the full university education of any student from his paramountcy who secures 8A1s in the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The audacious pledge, aimed at students pursuing critical disciplines such as Medicine, Engineering, and Law, was made during a pivotal meeting of the Nkoranza Traditional Council last Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

The initiative, according to the Overlord, is a strategic investment to “build and develop the human resource base” essential for the future of the Nkoranza Traditional Area.

Vital

“Education is not an expense; it is the most vital infrastructure we can build for our people,” Nana Kwame Baffoe IV stated.

“When we educate a child, especially in these fields of national need, we are not just transforming an individual life. We are planting a seed that will grow to provide healing, innovation, justice, and leadership for our entire community. An educated citizenry is the true wealth of Nkoranza,” he said.

The Nkoranzamanhene framed his pledge not as a solitary act of charity, but as a clarion call.

He appealed to all stakeholders—indigenous citizens at home and abroad, the Nkoranzaman Development Forum, and development partners—to rally behind a concerted push to elevate educational standards across the area.

The scholarship announcement is not an isolated gesture but part of a broader, meticulously planned educational offensive.

Nana Kwame Baffoe IV revealed that “plans are far advanced” to systematically enhance quality education in Nkoranza through a tripartite partnership between the Traditional Council, the Development Forum, and well-meaning citizens.

Strategy

The strategy is already in motion.

Last month, the Omanhene demonstrated this commitment by donating library books to 14 selected schools across the Nkoranza South Municipal and Nkoranza North District.

In a significant expansion of this support, he promised to extend the book donation project to schools within the Kintampo North Municipal and Kintampo South District, which also fall under his expansive paramountcy.

The meeting on Tuesday, therefore, served as both a declaration of intent and a strategic council of war against educational underachievement.
