Ministry of Foreign Affairs says DVLA services are not available abroad
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted viral reports that Ghanaian nationals living abroad can now register or renew their driving licenses through staff of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in countries such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Germany
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, the ministry clarified that no directive has been issued to Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad regarding such services.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to state categorically that it has neither issued a directive to our diplomatic missions abroad nor granted approval to any entity for such an arrangement”, it noted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and financial prudence in public service delivery.
