Johnson Asiedu Nketia has moved to calm tensions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging members who are yet to receive appointments under the new administration to exercise restraint and trust the party leadership.

Speaking at a meeting in Winneba in the Effutu Constituency on Thursday, February 12, the NDC National Chairman acknowledged that some supporters feel sidelined following the party’s return to government. However, he stressed that constitutional limitations restrict the number of appointments that can be made by President Mahama.

He explained that the ongoing “Thank You Tour” is partly intended to address such concerns and foster understanding among the rank and file.

“I am aware that some of you are unhappy because you did not get to be appointed to any position upon our return to power. This is understandable,” he said, adding that the leadership appreciates the sacrifices of party members.

Asiedu Nketia emphasized that it is practically impossible to appoint all deserving members simultaneously, given the constitutional framework governing presidential appointments.

He therefore advised supporters to avoid public outbursts and instead utilize internal party mechanisms to seek redress.

According to him, maintaining unity and discipline within the party remains critical as the NDC settles into governance.

The Central Region tour forms part of the party’s broader post-election activities to reconnect with grassroots supporters and consolidate support across constituencies.
