Shina, her 24-year-old son, reportedly passed away on Tuesday while Ogunmola was on a movie set. The news was confirmed by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi, who shared the heartbreaking update on social media, urging fans and colleagues to keep the actress in their prayers.

Shina’s death comes just months after he completed his National Youth Service Corps programme, marking what should have been the beginning of a new chapter. Instead, the tragedy has left a void in Ogunmola’s life and cast a shadow over the Yoruba film community, where she is deeply respected.

The loss echoes a painful pattern in the entertainment world. Last year, actor Francis Duru mourned his son Ifeanyi, describing him as a lion who fought bravely before passing. Comedian Aphrican Ace and his wife also lost their newborn son, born prematurely at 26 weeks. And on Father’s Day in 2023, skit maker Akika shared the devastating news of his son’s death, just as he was preparing to post a tribute online.

These stories remind us that behind the glitz of fame are real people facing unimaginable grief. For Peju Ogunmola, the pain of losing her only child is a wound that will take time — and love — to heal.
