Philipa Baafi has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made a strategic move in their 2008 general election campaign by purchasing the copyright to her uplifting song “Go Higher”.
This decision allowed the party to legally use the song’s inspiring message and catchy melody to rally support among voters.
Philipa Baafi in an interview revealed that she never composed the song specifically for the NPP and never intends to do for any political party. Instead, she says the party approached her and paid for the copyright to use the song, which she had already written and recorded.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz monitored by News & Vibes, Philipa Baafi clarified that her mission is to sing for Christ, and she will not be swayed by any amount of money to compose a song for a political party.
Philipa Baafi, a talented gospel singer, released her debut album “Nyame Honhon Sane” in 1999, fresh out of Senior Secondary School. She followed up with “Mogya Nakasa” in 2002 and “Okyeso Nyame” in 2004, solidifying her presence in the music industry and later released others.
