Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has recorded a commanding performance in the Bono East Region, securing 5,049 votes across all 11 constituencies in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries held on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Dr Bawumia’s tally represents approximately 69% of the total valid votes cast in the region, cementing his dominance in an area considered crucial to the party’s fortunes.
Former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong emerged as the second-best performer in the region with 1,391 votes, while businessman Kennedy Ohene Agyapong managed 828 votes across the 11 constituencies.
The region recorded a total of 7,359 votes cast, with 7,329 valid votes and only 20 rejected ballots.
Dr Bawumia’s strongest showing came in Techiman South Constituency, where he polled 1,047 votes out of 1,342 valid votes cast. He also performed impressively in Kintampo North with 655 votes, Atebubu Amanten with 633 votes, and Nkoranza South with 632 votes.
Dr Bryan Acheampong recorded his best performance in Atebubu Amanten with 155 votes and Sene West with 156 votes, demonstrating pockets of support across the region.
Kennedy Agyapong’s highest tally came from Techiman North Constituency, where he secured 146 votes, followed by Techiman South with 132 votes.
Former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum garnered 58 votes across the region, while former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong managed just 13 votes.
The Bono East results form part of the broader national count, where over 211,000 delegates cast their votes at more than 300 polling centres across the country.
