The Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a set of guidelines for the party’s presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The guidelines are to ensure a smooth, transparent and peaceful voting process.

A statement signed and issued by the Secretary to the PEC, William Yamoah, said it was strictly prohibited for delegates to publicly display their cast ballots, capture images of them and make gestures to show whom one voted for.

“Anyone who is caught violating this provision shall be arrested and his or her vote shall be declared as a nullified or rejected ballot,” it said.

The statement said there would not be any congregation on the day of voting, with voting to be strictly a walk-in affair.

It added that no unaccredited individuals would be allowed in the voting perimeter, while delegates would not be allowed to wear the colour or effigy of a contestant at the voting centre.

It said voting would take place in an open place, not indoors or in enclosed spaces.

“The Electoral Commission and the Police shall enforce and adhere to restricting delegates from taking their phones and other electronic photographic gadgets to the voting screen,” the statement said.

The PEC also urged delegates to maintain decorum and avoid any behaviour that could disrupt the voting process.
