In a significant display of democratic maturity and party cohesion, all four unsuccessful aspirants in today’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary have formally conceded defeat, pledging their full support to the flagbearer-elect, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The concessions began trickling in shortly after provisional results were compiled by Joy News, and all the defeated candidates addressed the party afterwards at the NPP headquarters in Accra, after an official declaration by the Electoral Commission.

The defeated candidates pledged their support to Dr Bawumia in an act hailed by party elders as a masterclass in political sportsmanship.

The most anticipated concession came from the former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who had mounted a high-octane campaign that resonated deeply with the party’s grassroots.

The other three candidates—Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyepong—also made public appearances at the party headquarters to affirm the legitimacy of the process.
