Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Elections Committee
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) requires strong leadership to recover from its defeat in the 2024 general elections, according to Joseph Osei Owusu, the Chairman of the NPP’s Presidential Elections Committee.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Owusu addressed concerns about the party’s potential disintegration, emphasising the need for firm guidance to rebuild and regain public trust.
He stated, “I don’t think disintegration is a concern. However, we need strong leadership to keep us on the right path to recover from our losses and restore the public’s confidence.”
The NPP plans to elect its presidential candidate on January 31 as part of its reorganisation efforts.
Key contenders for the position include former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kwabena Agyepong, former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former Minister for Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong.
This upcoming election aims to refocus and strategise for the party’s future political endeavors.
