NPP schedules internal elections for September 18-20, 2026

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will hold elections for its national executives from September 18 to 20, 2026.

According to General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party is confident that the new leadership will help secure victory in the 2028 general election.

Addressing a press conference, Frimpong outlined the election timeline, Filing of nominations: August 10-14, 2026 (nomination forms available), August 15-17, 2026 (filing period)
– Aspirants’ vetting: August 20-23, 2026
– Release of vetting report: August 25, 2026
– Appeals: August 28-29, 2026
– Elections: September 18-20, 2026

Due to the election schedule, the National Council has extended the tenure of certain party officials:
– Polling station executives: March 5 to May 16, 2026
– Electoral area coordinators: March 20 to June 15, 2026
– Constituency executives: April 24 to July 12, 2026
– Chapter executives: April 24 to July 19, 2026

For the Constituency Executive Committee elections, the schedule is as follows:
– Nominations: June 22-24, 2026 (open and closed door)
– Vetting: June 25-27, 2026
– Appeals: June 28-30, 2026
– Notice of poll: July 2-5, 2026
– Elections: July 11-12, 2026
– Data entry and validation: July 13-26, 2026

Moving on to Chapter and External Branch elections, particularly for the diaspora:
– Chapter elections (including nominations, vetting, appeals, elections, data entry, and validation): June 20 – July 19, 2026
– Branch elections: Timetable to be announced (including opening and closing of nominations)
