The Chairman of the South London Chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK, Frank Adusei Stedman, has urged delegates ahead of the party’s January 31, 2026, presidential primaries to choose a leader driven by vision, innovation, and integrity, describing the contest as a defining moment for both the party and the country.

In a statement addressed to NPP delegates, Mr Stedman said the decision they make will shape the future direction of the party and influence Ghana’s broader national trajectory. He called on delegates to approach the exercise with wisdom, patriotism and loyalty to the party’s core values. “This election marks a defining moment in the history of our great party.

The decision you make will shape the future of the New Patriotic Party and influence the direction of our nation,” he noted.

According to him, the next NPP presidential candidate must possess competence, integrity, vision and emotional intelligence to effectively confront Ghana’s evolving challenges. He stressed the need for a leader who can drive economic growth and industrial advancement through technology and modern governance practices.

“It is therefore essential that we elect a leader of outstanding competence, integrity, vision, and emotional intelligence,” the statement added.

Mr Stedman further outlined qualities he believes are critical for the party’s next flagbearer, including proven leadership ability, ethical discipline, humility, a strong commitment to digital transformation, and an ability to unite the party. He cautioned that Ghana’s current challenges require more than rhetoric. “The challenges before us require more than rhetoric. They demand strategic thinking, moral courage, transparency, and genuine commitment to service,” he said.

The NPP stalwart reminded delegates that their votes carry the aspirations of millions of Ghanaians who subscribe to the party’s ideals of democracy, development and good governance. He therefore appealed to them to rise above personal interests and short-term considerations.
