The youth want the intervention of the police

The youth of Nungua, together with traditional officeholders of the Nungua Traditional Area, have issued a strong public warning to estate developers and some members of the Teshie Okpelor Sowah Din family, cautioning them against what they describe as continued unlawful actions within the Nmai Djor enclave.

In a press release dated January 8, 2026, and signed by the Nungua Nmai Djor Mantse, Nii Bornmai Alabi Petenpeh, the group expressed concern over ongoing activities on a disputed parcel of land, stressing that such actions threaten peace, law and order in the area.

According to the statement, the youth and traditional authorities accuse the developers of defying legal processes by continuing construction and maintaining an armed presence on the land despite a pending court application.

They described the situation as provocative and an affront to the dignity of the people of Nungua.

The release noted that an application for an interlocutory injunction has already been served and is scheduled to be moved at the High Court in Tema on January 16, 2026.

The court, they said, has cautioned all parties to refrain from any action that could undermine the judicial process.

The youth warned that any further activity on the land before the court’s determination could amount to contempt of court, adding that they are disturbed by allegations that some security personnel are still supervising activities on the site despite the pending legal proceedings.

As a result, the Nungua youth and traditional officeholders issued what they described as a final ultimatum, demanding the immediate cessation of all construction activities, the withdrawal of land guards and armed personnel from the area, and full respect for the authority of the court.

“We are a peace-loving people, but we will not allow our rights to be trampled upon,” the statement said, adding that any attempt to intimidate residents would be firmly resisted.

The group further called on the government, the Ghana Police Service and the general public to help maintain peace and prevent any escalation of tensions in the Nmai Djor area.
