The Oti Regional Commander, DCOP Alex Acquah, has embarked on a peace campaign in Nkwanta in the Oti Region, which is battered by conflict.
Together with some senior officers, he met police personnel to encourage vigilance, discipline, and professionalism in their duties.
He then led a joint security team of Police, Military, BNI, and Defence Intelligence Officers to the Zongo Community, where they met the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Issaka Kayaba, and his elders.
The Commander conveyed condolences on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board (POMAB) following the death of three (3) adult male members of the community in the recent fatal violent attacks in Nkwanta South Municipality.
The Chief assured the delegation of the community’s commitment to peace, non-retaliation, and coexistence. The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement and stability.
The Regional Commander also visited the site of a previous arson incident in Dadaga, where two lives were lost, to assess the situation.
The Regional Police Command continues to monitor developments and urges residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with the security agencies.
