Obuasi Cricket Academy honours patrons and players at 2025 Gala Night

The Obuasi Cricket Academy held its 2025 Dinner and Awards Night to celebrate outstanding players, coaches, partners and patrons who have contributed to the growth of cricket in Obuasi.

The event took place on Friday night, December 26, at the Obuasi Racket Court on the KNUST campus, bringing together players, parents, sponsors and officials.

Several individuals and institutions were recognised with Honorarium awards, including Razak Musbau of Joy News, Nsromma Cricket Academy, Edma Restaurant, and Kofi Anefi Kodam, for their support of the academy.

On the field, Justice Owusu Snr and Suglo Patricia were named Best Bowlers, while Eva Agyeiwaa Kodie won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Thabiso Muqueen Akowuah and Olivia Adjei were crowned Young Male and Young Female Players of the Year, respectively, with Sumaila Zakari taking the Senior Male Player of the Year award.

Esther Oppong Nkrumah and Glorious Owusu were recognised as Best Wicket Keepers, Mark Anthony won Young Online Scorer, and the Under-17 Boys team received medals. Henry Opoku was named Best Behaved Player of the Year.

Underground Mining Alliance (UMA–Obuasi, Ghana) was honoured as Major Sponsor, while Eric Manu was named Coach of the Year.

President of the Obuasi Cricket Academy, Rhyda Amanfo Ofori, said the event reflected the academy’s steady progress.

“We are building disciplined young cricketers and leaders, and with continued support, the academy will keep growing,” she noted.

The Dinner and Awards Night ended on a high note, reaffirming the academy’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting the development of cricket in Obuasi and beyond.
