A video making rounds on social media has sparked controversy after Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah was seen handling an envelope allegedly containing $12,000.
Afrifa, known for hosting the online political show For the Records, was captured in the footage counting the money before seemingly setting aside a portion for someone else.
The clip, which has since fueled speculation, was shared with a caption questioning the purpose of the payment.
The person behind the post accused Afrifa of being on the payroll of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and claimed the funds were meant to discredit former President John Mahama.
Afrifa, a former presenter on Angel TV/FM, was once a vocal supporter of the NPP but parted ways with Angel Broadcasting Network after the 2024 elections.
He later launched For the Records, an online talk show critical of the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
The show has drawn attention for its strong stance against the ruling party and has also put Afrifa at odds with U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Taylor.
Taylor, a known critic of the NPP, previously accused Afrifa of artificially boosting his show’s online presence by purchasing engagement from Vietnam.
This latest video has only added to the ongoing debate over whether For the Records is an independent platform or backed by figures within the NPP.
As discussions intensify, many are waiting to see whether Afrifa will address the video and the allegations surrounding the source of the alleged cash.
